Training 

Training Program Introduction

  1. Application-The prospective pilot applies to Sea Air Caro using the application form.

  2. Pre-Hire Interview- Human Resources will conduct an interview of the prospective pilot. They will use pre-determined questions of the applicants VA history, General knowledge of aviation and any other items they deem necessary. (1000 Minimum Vatsim verified hours, 500 hours in the 737 & a copy of the Captain Sim 737-200CF or the MilViz 737-200 QC to apply).

All flights will be approved by the training department. One phase at a time and in order. You can not move on to the next phase until approval is granted.  

 

Phase 1-Pre Hire-Sim Check 

To be flown in the -200

1. Pre-Hire Sim Check- Will consist of screen shots of the following:   

  • MIP (Main Instrument Panel)-after takeoff  on RYW 08 turning right on the JNU departure out of PAJN.

  • MIP (Main Instrument Panel zoomed-in)-at BARLO intersection.

Fly Direct to SSR Sisters Island and plan to fly the LDA X RWY 8 approach into Juneau.

  • MIP (Main Instrument Panel) at DIBOL INT.

  • MIP (Main Instrument Panel) at CGL.  

  • DA or DH on the LDA X RWY 08 approch.

  • Outside shot of wheel touchdown.

Phase 2-Ground School 

  • Students will study Sea Air Cargo manuals and SOPs before enrolling into the 737 ground school portion.

  • A written exam will be given before the ground school portion begins.

  • This will cover a basic knowledge of  Sea Air Cargo policies and procedures.

  • Once completed, the students will move to the ground school modules.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Angle of Attack 737 Ground School Training Supplemental (optional)

  • After all students take the SOP test they have the option to enroll in the AoA 737 ground school program. This will enhance your ground school training and better your learning. This is optional training with a discount provided if enrolled.   

  • Angle of Attack has a dedicated 737 ground school training program. There are 21 sections to be covered during the ground school portion. 

  • Angle of Attack (AoA) has a 7 day free trial for the 737 ground school training. No purchase is necessary.

 

Ground School Training

Sea Air Cargo Ground school Modules that will be covered include the following

  • Aircraft Lighting

  • Caution and Warning Systems

  • Emergency Equipment

  • Fire Protection

  • Ice and Rain Protection

  • TCAS

  • Engines

  • Auxiliary Power Unit

  • Hydraulics

  • Primary Flight Controls

  • Secondary Flight Controls

  • Landing Gear and Brakes

  • Bleed Air

  • Air Conditioning

  • Pressurization

  • Fuel System

  • Electrical System

  • Auto-flight

  • Instruments 

  • Dispatch PFPX

  • Emergency Procedures

  • Meteorology

  • ATC

  • Navigation

  • FAR

  • Aircraft Maintenance

 

  • There will be on-line exams that will be administered after you complete the applicable modules.

  • Failures of any of these exams will require the student to retake that module.

 

Phase 3-Sim Check 

  1. Phase 3 will consist of a check ride and IOE initial operating experience check ride.

Check-ride details:

  • Students will be required to record a flight / maneuvers using FSrecorder (a free program).

  • Flights will be flown in the 737-200. 

  • Set up the 200 on 16L in SEA

  • Plan to suffer a number two engine fire shortly after takeoff. (at 20 feet, FUEL #2 CUTOFF)  

  • Fly the engine out and comply with all QRH requirements.

  • Hold at Alternate fix McCord TCM as published

  • Conduct the QRH and trouble shoot procedures

  • Complete a single engine ILS approach to a missed approach for runway 16L

  • Fly the missed approach and return to a landing on one engine

  • Stop the recording and send that to the training department

RESET SIM

  • Place your airplane on PAKT (KTN) runway 11 and set weather down to minimums.

  • Start recording and depart runway

  • Fly the CETK DP and breakoff after the 180 heading turn climbing to 10,000 feet

  • Fly to COGOX and fly the procedure turn to the ILS 11 approach to a full stop landing.

  • Automation will be turned off at 50 above minimums or sooner.

  • Send in recording

 

Phase 4-IOE 

IOE Details:

  • Using FS recorder record a short flight from PKAT-PAJN in the -200

  • Use real world weather and Vatsim

  • Flight must comply with PFPX dispatch sheet (any fuel change over 5,000 lbs) needs to be cleared by the dispatch department.

  • Flight details to be added later.

  •  Record from takeoff to 18,000 feet, and again from 18,000 to landing. 

Completion

  • Upon completion of the course you will receive a completion certificate, and a Sea Air Cargo crew sticker that will be mailed to you. 

  • Welcome aboard you have now completed one of the most challenging training courses in the VA world!
